We have a beautiful Mini-Jersey cow that gives us approximately 2 gallons of milk per day.
We get lots of wholesome milk, butter, cheeses and ice cream!
Red Fern (or just "Fern") is:
raised on chemical-free pasture (no pesticides/herbicides)
never given hormones
not given prophylactic antibiotics, except in an emergency to save her life
milked twice daily.
a "Jersey". Also known as the "Old World Jersey", since the original Jersey was a smaller breed. It was not until the Jersey had been in the US for some time that the breed was "mixed" with another breed for making it produce more milk. As a result, the "Jersey" raised and sold in the US is larger than the original, "Old World Jersey" .
